Emacs would be so much cooler if instead of having games built in, it had modes for ruby, subversion, and ECB as part of the base install. A soft word wrapping feature that doesn't break syntax highlighting and incremental searching would also be really nice. (I'm really surprised this isn't here already.)

after using emacs for a while, i stopped missing soft line breaks.

Hey, where in Finland are you? My wife and I will be there soon - forget the town's name but it's a little place close to the Russian boarder. Southern (you know, for a scandinavian nation).

This is post your dropping of emacs, but xemacs comes out of the box with ruby mode and some other things.
